At NautaDutilh, we use technological advancements like (generative) artificial intelligence ("AI") as part of our legal services. By incorporating AI, we aim to better serve our clients. AI supports our lawyers and our internal processes but does not replace a lawyer’s legal judgement. Our lawyers are responsible for the legal assessment, with the assistance of AI.

AI brings a new dimension to legal services and navigating the risks and opportunities of AI require an adequate governance framework. Our approach to AI is grounded in our standards of professionalism and integrity, underpinned by an AI policy and governance structure. We combine this with procedures and controls including proper architectural design, role-based access controls, and documented best practices. As our people are responsible for the use of AI and trained on how AI operates and the importance of keeping data confidential, client data might be used as context in our work, but we never use client data to train AI models or allow our service providers to use this data. Expert knowledge of our internally approved AI tools, operating within a secure, connected digital environment, ensures effective and responsible use in our daily work.

Further information about our dedicated AI governance framework is available upon request.

We aim to let our security, architecture and data protection measures meet the highest standards, providing a solid foundation for the responsible use of AI, and we uphold these same standards when selecting AI tools and contracting suppliers.

We are committed to ongoing investment in our talent and the right tools, ensuring that we continue to develop and maintain effective AI-driven offerings.
