Gerard Meijer appointed President of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute
Gerard Meijer has been appointed President of the Board of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) as from 1 May 2018. He succeeds in this capacity Willem van Baren (formerly of Allen & Overy). Earlier Presidents were, inter alia, René van Rooij (formerly of KPN), Lodewijk Sillevis Smitt (formerly of De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek), Albert Jan van den Berg (formerly of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer), and Piet Sanders (founding father of the NAI). - Eric Dorrestijn (General Counsel Commercial, KPN), portfolio holder ICT/operations
The NAI, founded in 1949, is the oldest and largest general arbitration institute in the Netherlands. Arbitrations administered by the NAI concern not only large domestic arbitrations, but also major international arbitrations. The NAI cooperates in its mission with similar sister organisations around the world.
