NautaDutilh assisted ASR Nederland (a.s.r.) on both the acquisition and the repurchase of shares. 

On 13 September a.s.r. announced the acquisition of the shares in Generali Nederland from Generali Group. a.s.r. expects the total capital commitment (including acquisition price) to amount to approximately EUR 200 million. This acquisition will further strengthen a.s.r.’s position in the Dutch insurance market. Generali Nederland has been active in the Netherlands for more than 145 years; with a staff of about 350 employees it provides a broad range of Life and Non-Life insurance products to the market. ASR Nederland and Generali Group expect to complete the acquisition in the first quarter of 2018.

At the same day, a.s.r. announced its intention to repurchase 3,000,000 of its shares in the fifth and final offering of a.s.r. shares by stichting administratiekantoor beheer financiële instellingen (NLFI), which acts on behalf of the Dutch State. On 14 September, NLFI, has sold 30.15 million shares in a.s.r. at a price of EUR 33.75 per share. With the sale of NLFI's 20.5% stake in a.s.r.,  the Dutch State completely brings back its interest in a.s.r. to the private market.
