Chapter "Securitisations" published in the Financial Law Association's 2017 compilation "A Capital Markets Union for Europe"
On 7 December 2017, the compilation "A Capital Markets Union for Europe" was presented during a festive gathering of the Financial Law Association (Vereniging voor Financieel Recht) to celebrate its 25th anniversary at the Sint Olofskapel in Amsterdam.
In the chapter "Securitisations", the authors Liza Gerritsen and Arjan Scheltema describe how securitisations can be an important tool for supporting sustainable economic growth within the European Union, from the European Commission's point of view.
The chapter also provides some background on the discussions between the European Commission, the European Parliament and the European Council that have led to the current wording of the Securitisation (STS) Regulation, which is expected to come into force on 1 January 2019.
