Charles Gielen appointed Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau
Today, Charles Gielen, a partner at NautaDutilh and professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Groningen, has been awarded the royal honour of Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau. He received this prestigious honour from the hand of Mayor Nederveen at the town hall in Bloemendaal.
Charles Gielen has been awarded this honour for his considerable services to the Netherlands in the field of intellectual property over the last forty years. In addition to this, he has contributed to the Netherlands’ present status as one of the leading countries in the world in this field.
Charles Gielen is a member of the Executive Committee of the AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property) and a former president of the Dutch group of the AIPPI, of which he was recently appointed an honorary member. He is the chairman of the Special Committee on Biotechnology and a member of the standing advisory committee to the Dutch government on trademark and design law. In 2006, Charles also received the INTA President's Award, an honour reserved for people working in the field of intellectual property.
