Since May 2012 two teams headed by respectively David van Dijk (Real Estate) and Joost den Engelsman (Corporate/M&A) have assisted Stichting Woonbron with the acquisition of the hotel- and catering business on board of the steamship Rotterdam on the one hand and the auction sale of the shares in the companies that own the steamship Rotterdam on the other.

After Woonbron had reached agreement with WestCord Hotels in respect of the sale and purchase of the shares on 1 November 2012, Woonbron was confronted with a seizure of the shares by a bidder that did not get through to the final round of the auction sale process. Following hard work of a litigation team headed by Bart Gerretsen and Toon van Mierlo the The Hague Court of Appeals lifted the seizure on 7 May 2013.

As from that moment the teams headed by respectively David van Dijk and Joost den Engelsman worked almost non-stop on the closings of the acquisition by Woonbron of the hotel- and catering business of Lucas Petit (Cruise Hotels) whilst the team headed by Joost den Engelsman did the same in respect of the transfer of the shares and the steamship Rotterdam.

Notary Teska van Vuren and junior notary Maarten Buma assisted in both transactions. Albert van der Kolk and Sophie van Sadelhoff advised Woonbron in respect of employment and employee consultation matters.
