Colleague Joost Italianer comments on case Dutchman in China
The Dutch national tv-newsprogram EenVandaag paid attention to the case of Dutchman Harm Fitié in China, on Wednesday 14 December. Fitié was sentenced to twelve years in prison for fatally injuring his neighbour. Harm denies guilt and speaks of a fatal accident. He is in prison for eighteen months now.
The case was heard on appeal on 1 December and a judgement is expected soon. Harm's family and friends are hoping for acquittal. They seek publicity because it is the last chance to fight for Harm's case.
EenVandaag asked NautaDutilh colleague Joost Italianer, who pro bono advised the family, to comment on the case. Joost Italianer has been to China three times to train lawyers.
