Dirk Van Gerven has been appointed the new managing partner of NautaDutilh's Brussels office for a three-year term.
Dirk has been a partner with the firm for 19 years. He specialises in corporate and financial law and headed the Corporate & Finance department for many years. Dirk succeeds Philippe Péters, who will continue to lead the Intellectual Property practice group. In his own words, Philippe is "very pleased to pass the torch to Dirk" and is sure the firm will benefit from his "legendary dynamism". Didier De Vliegher, who currently heads the Real Estate group, will take over Dirk's role as head of the Corporate & Finance department.
Dirk Van Gerven: "NautaDutilh is a top-tier firm in Belgium. The Brussels office has an excellent team of lawyers. In my new role I will continue to build our client base and reputation in Belgium and to meet the needs of our clients, which are active in increasingly complex and changing markets."
Dirk is an outspoken advocate for the equal treatment of men and women throughout their professional careers. "Gender equality and diversity are high on my list of priorities, and one of my main objectives is to further integrate this into the firm's culture."
Dirk has served as president or a board member of many associations and institutions. He currently presides over the supervisory board of the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) and acts as vice president of CEPANI (the Belgian mediation and arbitration institute). He is a past president of the Dutch-speaking chapter of the Brussels Bar Association.
