Dutch parliament adopted a long-awaited bill to establish a Netherlands Commercial Court
On 11 December 2018 the Dutch parliament adopted a long-awaited bill to establish a Netherlands Commercial Court (the "NCC"). The Netherlands developed the Amsterdam-based NCC following the example of foreign commercial courts in New York, Delaware, London, Dubai and Singapore. The NCC aims to answer the need of the international business community and counsel for specialised, flexible and fast court proceedings in English, against moderate costs. Its focus is on international contractual and corporate disputes on an opt-in basis. The NCC is likely to become an attractive venue for international dispute settlement in co-existence with the existing Dutch framework for international arbitration.
