Although the ban on discrimination in the workplace is well laid down in law, practice appears to be more unruly.

For instance, the most recent TNO inventory of working conditions in the Netherlands showed that 6% of employees in the past twelve months have been discriminated against while performing work.

In the opinion section of Het Financieele Dagblad, NautaDutilh Employment partner Homme ten Have calls Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana an example of someone who speaks out in interviews about the discrimination he has experienced in his career. And he hopes that by making these problems visible and discussable, a generation will grow up whose sports heroes dare to raise the issue.
