Leo Groothuis has won the Best M&A Lawyer award, while 'our' Bakker Bart – Project Pink Panther deal has won the Best Deal Small Cap award. The winners were announced on Thursday, 12 December, at the annual M&A Awards in Amsterdam.
"First and foremost, we are grateful for the recognition by our clients and peers in the M&A community of Leo's track record in the Dutch mergers and acquisitions market. In transactions, Leo never loses sight of how we can help solve the client's business challenges. He always brings creativity and a cooperative mindset to the negotiation table. We are proud that the award for Best M&A Lawyer shows clients and peers alike appreciate this," says Lieke van der Velden, Global Head of our M&A team.
The Bakker Bart – Project Pink Panther deal, where we advised Bakerstreet and the Companjen family, was voted the 2019 Best Small Cap Deal. The Companjen family became the new sponsor and indirect majority shareholder of Bakker Bart. With this partnership between Bakerstreet and Bakker Bart, the parties have created a unique platform in the foodservice market in the Netherlands. The cooperation will enable the company to accelerate its growth strategy.
On behalf of the board, Petra Zijp says: "We are proud to see one of our leading lawyers as well as our M&A team recognized for their outstanding work. The Best M&A Lawyer award acknowledges Leo's hard work and expertise in the field of Corporate M&A.
