NautaDutilh assisted Sonoco, a large diversified global packaging company, on the Belgian and Dutch legal aspects of the acquisition of family-owned Weidenhammer Packaging Group. Weidenhammer, headquatered in Hockenheim, Germany, is Europe's leading provider of composite cans, drums and rigid plastic containers.

With the acquisition a global leader in rigid paper packaging will be created. The transaction has a value of EUR 286 million in cash and was signed on 23 August 2014.

The NautaDutilh team is headed by Ruud Smits and further consists of Taida Pasic, Madelon de Blok, David Wumkes, Pieter de Jong, Elke Janssens, Virginie Ciers, Harry Eliaerts and Tamar van Colenberghe. NautaDutilh co-counseled with ReedSmith LLP.
