NautaDutilh assisted FairPhone on securing new investment
NautaDutilh advised FairPhone on its latest investment round by a consortium of five impact investors. The investment round was preceded by a successful crowdfunding campaign in the summer of 2018, in which almost 1,900 crowdfunders provided convertible loans to FairPhone. The consortium investment triggers a right for crowdfunders to convert their loan into equity via a trust office foundation, allowing the crowdfunders to become equity investors.
FairPhone is a young social impact driven company that develops the world's first modular phone, built with materials that are tracked from the source until the end-user to ensure they are gained in a fair and sustainable manner. The raised funding of approximately EUR 7.5 million will allow FairPhone to grow and fulfil its social impact aspirations in the coming years, among which expanding the company's territory to Scandinavia and southern Europe and releasing the new edition of the FairPhone.
The NautaDutilh team assisting FairPhone consisted of Geert Raaijmakers, Sybren de Beurs, Arief Roelse, Marieke Pols and Wouter Loijson.
