Captin is a continuation of Equity Management Services, formerly part of F. van Lanschot Bankiers N.V. Captin provides services in relation to secondary markets and employee participation schemes. To that end, Captin operates a trading venue (Captin MTF) - the only trading venue in the Netherlands that is licensed as an MTF.

Captin's focus is on parties seeking capital that are too big for crowdfunding, without the need to be listed on a regulated market. Captin facilitates investors in such companies to trade their investment. This initiative is in line with the EU's focus on better access to capital markets as part of the Capital Markets Union. Captin is not only innovative on a commercial level, but also has an innovative set-up.

NautaDutilh has assisted with the license application and related communication with regulatory authorities, advised on the set-up and structure of Captin and assisted with drafting of client and market documentation. NautaDutilh has further assisted parties on the spinoff of this department from Van Lanschot to Captin.

NautaDutilh's team was co-headed by Jasha Sprecher and Larissa Silverentand, and consisted (amongst others) of Yael Diamant, Menno Lukkes, Daphne Wichard and Marjolein van Well. The spinoff from Van Lanschot was handled by Lieke van der Velden and Ernst van der Touw (Corporate).
