NautaDutilh Brussels supports DIApositief
NautaDutilh Brussels has decided to support the DIApositief programme, an initiative by the Dutch-speaking chapter of the Brussels Bar Association to promote socioeconomic diversity at the bar and in the legal profession. The prefix in DIApositief stands for "Diverse en Inclusieve Advocatuur".
The aim of the programme is to encourage young people from migrant backgrounds to choose to study law when they reach the end of their secondary education, by helping them to aspire to a career in the legal profession. Such students tend to receive too little encouragement to pursue higher education and may even experience social or financial pressure not to continue studying.
DIApositief provides an introduction to the legal profession and the Belgian legal system and includes visits to a courthouse, the legal aid office, a prison, and national and international law firms as well as discussions with lawyers, law professors and judges. Participants in the programme gain first-hand knowledge of the Belgian judicial system and the legal profession. The participant who writes the best paper on the importance of diversity for the rule of law will receive a scholarship to help finance his or her legal studies.
NautaDutilh will contribute to the scholarship fund of DIApositief.
