On 9 October 2014, NautaDutilh partner Robert van Galen became president of INSOL Europe. Over the last few years, Robert has been active as deputy president of the association, which is closely involved in European regulation in the field of insolvency. During the annual congress of INSOL Europe, Catherine Ottaway handled over the chairperson's gavel to Robert.

Robert specialises in insolvency law, in particular international insolvency law and restructurings. He is admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court in the Netherlands. Robert is chairman of the Restructuring & Insolvency team of NautaDutilh. The team advises both national and international clients in the field of restructuring and insolvency. Robert regularly publishes in legal magazines and he is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.

INSOL Europe is an association of lawyers and accountants that practice insolvency law and/or act as receivers. The association has more than 1,200 members throughout Europe. INSOL Europe holds various congresses and seminars, publishes journals and is active in developing international insolvency law. More than 400 lawyers, accountants, scholars, judges and bankers took part in the annual congress that was held in Istanbul from 9 to 12 October.
