NautaDutilh advised ONVZ, a Dutch health insurer, on a strategic collaboration with VGZ. ONVZ and VGZ are entering a strategic partnership aimed at building sustainable, accessible and affordable healthcare.

In this strategic collaboration, strengths in healthcare procurement and operational execution of insurance are combined. ONVZ will continue to focus on the availability of first-class Health Insurance and excellent service to its policyholders. VGZ will enhance its impact as a driver of sustainable healthcare in the Netherlands.

Effective 1 January 2027, ONVZ will transfer the risk-bearing of both the basic insurance and supplementary insurances to VGZ. ONVZ will also join VGZ’s healthcare procurement. The partnership aims to invest in cooperation to drive changes in healthcare with providers, ensuring accessible, affordable, and high-quality care for everyone.

The transfer and strategic cooperation are subject to approval by the Dutch Competition Authority (ACM). Both organisations will work closely together during the transition phase to ensure a smooth transfer of operations and the careful integration of ONVZ employees into VGZ.

ONVZ will continue to focus on first-class health insurance, complemented by services aimed at providing access to care and excellent service for its policyholders and distribution partners.
