De Volksbank is the first bank in Europe to issue subordinated Tier 2 green bonds. Investors subscribed for an amount of more than € 1.75 billion, the majority of which were ESG investors who have a particular focus on sustainable investments.
De Volksbank wants to make a relevant and positive contribution to society by focusing on financial resilience and sustainability. By issuing green bonds, de Volksbank wants to add another element to its value chain. The proceeds of this issue will be allocated to a ‘green loan portfolio’ of new and existing loans, that contribute to a climate neutral balance sheet through reduced or avoided emissions.
Leading up to this unique issuance, the NautaDutilh team also supported de Volksbank in its contacts with the ECB, the Dutch Central Bank and the AFM.
