How can we help you?

On 9 May, Elke Janssens, Florence Verhoestraete, Ken Lioen and Christel Brion will present a workshop at Knowledge for Growth on the different ways of remunerating the founders, directors and managers of biotech start-ups and scale-ups. Furthermore, Dirk Reyn will share his thoughts based on his 35 years' experience in the international pharmaceutical industry.

The recent reform of the Company Code and changes to the tax legislation mean that new opportunities will become available and hence that a new balance will have to be struck between the founders and managers of biotech start-ups and scale-ups and the VC/PE funds investing in such companies.

We will present the various tools available to structure an incentive plan and discuss their main characteristics. We will also highlight certain points for attention over the lifetime of an investment (e.g. working through a management company, the proposed level of exit, etc.). Finally, we will elaborate on selected aspects of setting up an incentive plan in an international context.

On this occasion, we will present practical examples of how founders, directors and/or managers of biotech companies can guide the company's growth and development in a way that is beneficial to both themselves and VC/PE investors.
