Rising demand, the growing influence of technology, changing eating patterns, and increasing concern with food safety: there’s never been so much happening throughout the Agri & Food sector. For advisors in the sector, all this means that they must be able, on the one hand, to recognise and interpret the major trends, while on the other that they must be able to determine what advice to give at individual level. And in order to optimise the combination of “expertise and knowledge of the sector”, it’s also important to speak the right language. That’s a hard-to-find combination – unless you contact our Agri & Food experts.
Teska van Vuren got to know the business at the best place possible: her father’s dairy farm. She applies the knowledge gained there in her advisory work as a civil-law notary. Milestones in that work include several participations and various national and international acquisitions. Moreover, the fact that a lot of enterprises in this sector are family-run businesses fits in well with her interest and extensive experience in advising such businesses.
Arjan Pors specialises in advising borrowers and lenders in the context of national and international financing transactions, including for acquisitions, projects, and general business operations. In particular, he also has experience of financing within the sector, including for Continental Bakeries, Desch Plantpak, VanDrie Group, and Van Geloven.
Fenna van Zanten’s roots are right at the heart of the Dutch horticultural business: the Westland region. As the granddaughter of an advisor at the former horticultural testing ground in Naaldwijk and the daughter of a supplier of automation systems for the hortibusiness, it was perfectly natural for her to specialise in the Agri & Food sector and develop specific expertise in that field.
Silvia Gawronski specialises in the law of administrative procedure. She acts not only for national and international companies but also for SMEs. Her interests are in regulation and enforcement in general and (administrative) sanctions in particular. She advises on the material food (and food safety) regulations such as the EU’s Food & Feed Regulation, the Dutch food and commodities legislation and the Agricultural Quality Act, but also on the legislation applying to alcohol and the hospitality sector, transportation, and storage. Silvia has experience in dealing with various regulatory and enforcement authorities, including the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), Skal Biocontrole, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and local environmental agencies
To sum up, this sector has few secrets for us – as is emphasised by our Tier 1 ranking in the Legal 500. We’ve grown up – some of us literally – in the sector, we speak the language, and we know that every company in the sector is different. We’re familiar with the success factors as well as the problems, so that we know exactly what we need to do, and when to do it, so as to relieve companies of their concerns to the maximum extent possible. When combined with our familiarity with the relevant networks comprising, among other things, family-run businesses and innovative growth companies and our “let’s get straight down to work” mentality, that means we can provide tailor-made advice. If you would like to know more about what we can do for you, don’t hesitate to contact us.
