Paul Deza de Massiac is an attorney in NautaDutilh's Competition and EU law group. His clients are active in a wide range of sectors, such as financial services, energy, healthcare and telecom. Paul advises on Dutch and European competition law, state aid and several other areas of European Union law.
He is also an experienced financial regulatory lawyer, having advised international companies and financial institutions such as payment service providers, banks and investment funds on financial regulatory law, contract law and securities law matters. Paul has been a regular author of the Tijdschrift voor Financieel Recht.
Recent matters in which Paul was involved are:
- Notification and re-notification to the European Commission of a EUR 12 Billion Dutch State guarantee for a reinsurance scheme for trade credit insurers active in the Netherlands;
- Notification of a Joint-Venture between two international banks to the European Commission; and
- Notification to the ACM of a concentration with strong expansion plans in the energy industry.
Paul is member of the Dutch Competition Law Association (Vereniging voor Mededingingsrecht) and the Dutch Financial Law Association (Vereniging voor Financieel Recht).
Paul graduated from Leiden University with a LLM in financial law in 2017. Prior to graduating from Leiden University Paul obtained a double Bachelor's degree, graduating from University College Utrecht with a Bachelor in Liberal Arts & Sciences and graduating from Utrecht University with a Bachelor in law. Paul has participated in the Transnational Law Programme which has led him to read law at Washington University in Saint Louis during fall term 2012.
Paul is admitted to the Amsterdam bar and is fluent in Dutch, English and French.
