Erik van Engelenburg is a member of the Financial Law group. He advises national and international companies and financial institutions such as banks, insurers, investment firms and investment institutions on financial (supervisory) law and contract law. He also advises on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG-)related matters, particularly concerning ESG laws and climate liability.

Erik joined NautaDutilh in 2023, and is admitted to the Amsterdam bar.

  • Qualifications

    Erik studied at Utrecht University, where he obtained a master's degree in private law (cum laude). Erik also holds a master's degree in ‘International Business Law: Climate Change and Corporations’ at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (cum laude). During his bachelor’s degree, Erik studied a semester at the University of Bologna.

    Erik won the FRP Thesis Award 2022 for his master thesis on the liability of financial service providers for the breach of European sustainability legislation. Later that year, he published a shortened version of his thesis in Dutch legal journal ‘Financial Law in Practice’.
