Duco Harmsen specialises in banking and finance law and is a member of NautaDutilh's Structured Finance team. Duco's practice focusses on structured finance, including securitisations, mortgage platforms, covered bonds, other asset based transactions and capital markets transactions. Duco further has experience in national and international banking and financing transactions with a focus on finance transactions, acquisition finance and restructuring.
He recently worked with and acted for, among others, new entrants and institutional investors to the Dutch mortgage market with innovative structures, such as the mortgage origination platforms of Rabobank, Dynamic Credit, Venn Hypotheken and the Blauwtrust Groep with their 'Iqwoon', 'Robuust' and 'HollandWoont' labels. Also, he assisted with the setting up of direct investment originate-to-distribute models and other structured finance transactions and has been involved in various restructuring structured finance transactions. In addition, he worked for a year at NautaDutilh's London office, in which he got familiar with the finance market in London.
Duco graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 2011 and joined NautaDutilh in 2012. Duco is admitted to the Amsterdam Bar. In 2018-2019 Duco took part in the post-graduate specialisation programme 'Finance and Security Rights' of the Grotius Academy. He graduated with honours in 2019.
