Frans van Koppen works for the practice groups Financial Litigation and Corporate Advice Litigation and Insolvency. He researches points of law for attorneys and keeps them informed on new points of law and current developments. He is also one of the editors of a NautaDutilh newsletter for financial institutions and insurance companies. He contributes to the production of articles, briefings and newsletters for circulation to clients or to be published in legal journals. Apart from this, he regularly organizes meetings aimed at briefing fee earners on recent case law and legal developments.
He graduated at the University of Utrecht in 1985 and worked as an assistant professor at Tilburg University from 1985 up to 2000. In 1998, he was awarded a Ph.D. degree for a thesis on fraudulent preference (Actio Pauliana) and tort. Since 2000 he has been working as a professional support lawyer for law firms, and as such joined NautaDutilh in 2007.
He is a fellow of INSOLAD (Dutch Insolvency Practitioners Assocation), and was a member of the INSOL Europe Drafting Committee for a proposal to change the European Insolvency Regulation.
He is on the editing board of a journal on practical commercial law (Bedrijfsjuridische Berichten) and of the best-known Dutch commentary on insolvency law (Groene Serie Faillissementswet). Moreover, he is one of the authors of another such commentary (SDU Commentaar Insolventierecht) and a contributor/assistant-editor of the leading Dutch journal of insolvency law (Tijdschrift voor Insolventierecht).
