Johan Léonard is a partner with NautaDutilh Avocats Luxembourg and a member of the firm's Tax team. He specialises in national and international tax law, providing structuring and transactional advice to a wide range of clients, in particular investment funds, private equity firms, real estate conglomerates, financial institutions and multinational groups. He is also regularly consulted by high-net-worth individuals in relation to estate planning and provides assistance in the context of tax litigation.
Prior to joining NautaDutilh Avocats Luxembourg, Johan gained in-depth experience at other top-tier law firms in Luxembourg specialising in international tax matters.
Johan holds a master's degree in law (magna cum laude) from the University of Louvain (UCL, 2010) as well as an LL.M. in international taxation from New York University (2014).
Johan is a member of the editorial board of the Revue générale de fiscalité luxembourgeoise (RGFL) published by Larcier. He also writes frequently on selected topics of tax law. Recent publications include "Bill of law n° 7318 Implementing the ATAD - Overview and Selected Questions in Relation to the Forthcoming CFC Regime" (RGFL, 2019) and "Nouvelles règles luxembourgeoises relatives aux sociétés étrangères contrôlées : application pratique et mise en perspective d'un point de vue temporel" (Revue de Droit Fiscal, 2019). He is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI).
Johan was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2011 and to the Luxembourg Bar in 2014.
He is a native French speaker and is fluent in English.
