Jan Loorbach specialises in commercial and corporate litigation as well as health law. In the latter sphere, he acts mainly for institutional clients such as hospitals and health insurance companies. He also focuses on disputes within organisations providing professional services (especially in the areas of legal, notarial, accountancy and medical services).

Jan graduated from the University of Groningen in 1971 and joined NautaDutilh in the same year, becoming a partner in 1979. He served as President of the Rotterdam Bar Association from 1996 to 1999. A former member of the national basketball team, Jan was Chef de Mission of the Netherlands Olympic Team at the Sydney Games in 2000. Between 2007 and 2010 Jan was on the board of NautaDutilh, with primary responsibility for human resources, an area in which he had already been active within the firm.

Jan has chaired an advisory committee that made recommendations to the Dutch Olympic Committee on good governance within sports organisations. In addition, he has served on a committee instituted by the Minister of Justice to advise on the future of the legal profession in the Netherlands. He is currently a member of the editorial team that selects and comments on decisions from the disciplinary courts of the Netherlands Bar Association for publication in the Advocatenblad journal for lawyers.
