Axel Maeterlinck advises listed and unlisted companies, financial investors and family offices on corporate law, governance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and capital markets transactions.

With two decades of experience, Axel has also developed recognised expertise in providing long‑term strategic guidance to family offices, high‑net‑worth shareholders and reference investors of listed and unlisted companies, including on matters of wealth structuring, succession planning and estate governance.

His practice spans a wide range of sectors, including biotech, pharmaceuticals, information technology and financial services, where he assists clients with complex transactional, regulatory and governance matters.

    Axel serves as an accredited third‑party decision-maker appointed by the French Order of Lawyers at the Brussels Bar in the context of mandatory third‑party decisions, an alternative dispute resolution mechanism. He is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and GUBERNA (Institute of Directors).

  • Qualifications

    Axel obtained his law degree magna cum laude from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in 2003 and was admitted to the Brussels Bar the same year. He joined NautaDutilh in 2024 after nearly twenty years with a leading international law firm.
