Pim Rank is a recognised expert on the cutting edge of financial regulatory law and private law who has been involved in many matters relating to asset segregation and netting and collateral enforceability. He is specialised in the legal aspects of derivatives, repo's and securities lending, netting and collateral enforceability and cash pooling. Pim also has a wide experience in setting up custody and clearing & settlement systems and payment systems and a profound knowledge of private international law.

In addition to being a frequent speaker at seminars, Pim is the first author of the ISDA Collateral Opinion for the Netherlands, the ISDA Cleared Opinion for the Netherlands, the ISDA CM Reliance Opinion for the Netherlands, the ISDA Client Reliance Opinion for the Netherlands, the ICMA/ISLA Opinions for the Netherlands and for Curaçao and Sint-Maarten.

Pim was a member of the committee advising the Netherlands government on bearer securities, represented the Netherlands in the negotiations on the Hague Convention on the Law Applicable to Securities held with an Intermediary and was a member of the EU Clearing & Settlement Legal Certainty Group. 

After obtaining a PhD in law from Leiden University in 1996, he became a professor of banking and securities law at Radboud University in 1997; in 2012 he returned to his alma mater as professor of financial law. 

Pim joined the firm in 1991 and became a partner in 1997. In 2017, he became of counsel. IFLR 1000 ranked Pim Rank as an 'Expert consultant' in Banking in 2021.
