Willem Ruys specialises in capital markets and securitisation work. He was involved in the first public securitisation transaction in the Netherlands and has acted in many securitisation transactions since that time. Willem currently acts as advisor to NautaDutilh's Securitisations Team.

Willem graduated from Leiden University in 1979 and received his LL.M. degree from Columbia University Law School in New York in 1980. He joined NautaDutilh in 1981 and became a partner in 1989.

Willem has published various articles on securitisation in the Netherlands and regularly lectures on this subject. He is quoted as leading lawyer in the area of banking and finance and securitisation in various expert guides.

IFLR 1000 ranked Willem Ruys as an "Expert consultant" in Capital markets: Structured finance and securitisation in 2021.
