Anne Marie Verschuur heads NautaDutilh's Dutch IP/IT group. She specialises in intellectual property law and has extensive experience in litigating and advising in this area. Most of her clients are national or international corporations active in the consumer goods (in particular food, clothing and luxury goods), biotech and healthcare/life sciences industries. She assists her clients in e.g. trademark, patent, design, trade name and copy-right disputes, as well as in IP-driven transactions. Anne Marie is a member of NautaDutilh's Life Sciences, Food and High Tech industry teams.
Anne Marie's recent cases include litigation on several pharma patents, a colour trademark and storm umbrellas. With regard to patents, her litigation experience includes cases in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, mechanics, consumer products, telecom and medical devices. She has a coordinating role on the European defence team in a biotech patent case.
The Legal 500 already lists Anne Marie for years and writes that she is an "excellent litigator" (2017). Cham-bers (2017) notes that she "is held in high regard by her peers and continues to build a strong and respected practice which covers both general intellectual property, trade marks and copyrights as well as patent disputes. She is heralded as a "really bright" individual and a "good patent lawyer." WTR 1000 (2017) writes: "Anne Marie Verschuur leads the IP group by example, with her distinguished client handling and striking string of courtroom wins; anti-counterfeiting is another forte." Anne Marie is also listed in the Who's Who Legal Trademarks (2017), the Who's Who Legal Patents (2017), the MIP IP Stars for trademark and copyright law (2017) and both the Women in Business Law and the Trademark lists of Euromoney Expert Guides (2017). She is also included in MIP's list of the world's Top 250 Women in IP (2017).
Anne Marie is an active member of several associations including the International Trademark Association (INTA), the European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLAW), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI, in which Anne Marie was elected Deputy Reporter General in 2014) and the Dutch Association of Intellectual Property Litigators (VIEPA). She regularly publishes and is a member of the editorial staff of a national IP law journal.
Anne Marie graduated from the University of Utrecht with a master's degree in both law and history. Her period of study included six months at Warwick University in the UK. In 2002, she obtained a master's degree in law from Duke University in the USA, before joining NautaDutilh the following year.
