Vincent Wellens is a partner with NautaDutilh and head of the Luxembourg Intellectual Property, Information & Communication Technology and Competition practice groups.

His core practice areas are:

• IT and outsourcing projects and contracts (including related litigation and preparation for litigation), with a particular focus on the financial and public sectors;
• Data protection with a focus on contracts and representation in judicial and administrative proceedings (including on-site investigations and data breach notifications);
• IP litigation with a focus on patent litigation in the pharma sector and trademark and design litigation for luxury, consumer goods and media brands;
• Telecom and media regulatory advice (including broadcasting licensing issues);
• Competition law with a focus on hard-core cartels, abuse of dominance in the telecom and postal sectors, vertical restraints in the retail sector and state aid.

Prior to joining NautaDutilh, Vincent gained in-house experience as a competition and technology lawyer with POST Luxembourg, the largest telecom and postal operator in Luxembourg. He also practiced IP, ICT and competition law at several top-tier firms in Luxembourg and Brussels, with a focus on regulated industries (the financial, pharma, telecom, energy, media and transport sectors).

More about Vincent
Vincent is a member of the Luxembourg Bar Association's IP and ICT law committee, the Luxembourg Association of IT Professionals (APSI) and the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM). He is also active in professional organisations such as the French-Luxembourg Organisation of Archiving Professionals (FedIsa), the Luxembourg Competition Association (ALEDC), the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) and the Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL). In his capacity as a member of these organisations, he is regularly asked to advise on legislative and regulatory proposals relating to outsourcing, cloud computing, data protection and e-archiving. Vincent was recently appointed by the Luxembourg Bankers' Association (ABBL) as its representative to the working group on IT support for financial sector professionals within the prestigious think thank for the Luxembourg financial sector, the Haut Comité pour la Place Financière.

Vincent is the author of numerous publications and a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars. He is a regular contributor on technology topics to the Luxembourg business journal Agefi.

Vincent earned his law degree from the University of Leuven (KUL) in 2001. He also holds a diploma in Legal Studies from King's College London (2000) as well as LL.M. degrees in EU law (Europa Institut Saarbrücken, 2002) and intellectual property law (Katholieke Universiteit Brussel, 2005). He is a researcher in consumer and competition law at the University of Louvain (UCL).

Vincent was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2002 and to the Luxembourg Bar in 2007. He is fluent in English, Dutch, French, German and Luxembourgish.
