We are committed to drive sustainable development - by making a positive impact in everything we do, reporting on our actions and results, and inspiring others to do the same. Our third annual Sustainability & CSR Report is one of the ways in which we connect with you and give shape to our mission of ‘Empowering the Next Generation’.
The report describes our actions to date that range from helping organisations navigate ESG developments to making our own operations more sustainable and creating a more inclusive work environment. Step by step, we made real progress and raised the bar together with our clients.
We believe that, as a firm, we have a responsibility to play our part in the transition towards a more sustainable economy. Therefore, we also share stories about the various ways in which our ‘agents of change’ work with our clients to develop future-proof solutions to the complex and interconnected ESG challenges. Stories that bring us closer to some of the big issues, such as long-term value creation, socially desirable behaviour and good governance.
Our ambition for 2023 is to keep moving forward together with our committed people and clients. And to raise the bar even further on all four of our strategic pillars: clients, people, operations and society.
We report annually on our progress and ambitions in the field of sustainability and corporate social responsibility along the four pillars of our CSR strategy: Clients, People, Operations and Society. Focusing on four UN Sustainable Development Goals where we believe we can have the most impact – education, gender equality, climate action and access to justice and the rule of law – we aim to raise the bar each year on our ESG commitments and CSR mission to Empower the Next Generation. We welcome your feedback and encourage dialogue about how we can move forward together.
Agents of change
Our interview series 'Agents of Change' puts the spotlight on our people. These are the lawyers that develop future-proof solutions together with our clients and help to accelerate the focus on ESG across our firm. Because impactful change is always driven by the people who are committed to make a difference. Reaching long-term goals – whether it's achieving net zero, delivering innovative solutions in a changing regulatory landscape or creating a truly inclusive work culture – requires our joint efforts, our collective innovative ideas and the willingness to actually take the small steps that together help to raise the bar and lead to meaningful change. In these interviews, our colleagues share their experience, insights and vision for what's next.
About our policy and strategy
Since 2021, we annually report on our achievements in the field of sustainability. The report provides an overview of our main firm-wide sustainability and CSR activities and accomplishments, and takes into account the issues that are material to our firm. For this report, we did not yet apply an international reporting standard, other than the SDG table. We are preparing for the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which came into effect in January 2023, and will be subjected to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in reporting year 2026.
By publishing this report, we aim to ensure transparency and accountability with respect to our policies, actions, and goals in the field of sustainability and CSR. We welcome your feedback and invite you to enter into a dialogue about the role we have in society.
