Congratulations! You've finished your studies and are ready for the real world. You now face a very important decision: where to work. Of course, your first decision is not final, but at the start of your career you should do what suits you best.
Yes, we are looking for you!
Are you a junior with legal talent, who demonstrates a flair for languages and has a healthy dose of ambition? A sense of humour would also help tremendously.... then you definitely need to check out our traineeships!
By the way ... what is a traineeship exactly?
A traineeship lasts 3 years and allows you to prepare for admission to the bar. Under the supervision of senior associates and partners, you will receive valuable on-the-job training and be entrusted with considerable responsibility.
Lawyers in Belgium are self-employed, but we provide assistance and support to help you fulfil the applicable formalities for admission to the legal profession.
During your traineeship, you will, of course, be able to work on your pro bono cases.
We’ve also created a coaching programme to support trainees during their first year at NautaDutilh. A more experienced lawyer will act as your mentor and serve as your preferred point of contact.
Each year, we invest a significant percentage of our budget in training and development, for both lawyers and staff. In addition to continuing legal education courses, our lawyers have the opportunity to attend specialised training sessions in their areas of interest. We also organise more general courses on client management and business skills. We recently introduced a class on entrepreneurship for all lawyers, which was highly rated and well received. New trainees are immediately convinced that it takes more than just legal knowledge to become an outstanding business lawyer.
Our Junior Training Program provides junior associates with insight into our main practice areas. As partners lead sessions, junior associates immediately get to know them, thus ensuring less formal contact from the outset.
Last but not least, we also offer language courses, time and e-mail management classes, and computer skills courses to everyone.
