Jeroen Boelens Associé

Jeroen Boelens is a litigator specialised in patents and other technology-oriented matters, spanning a variety of fields including pharma, biotech and telecoms. His work encompasses (cross-border) disputes as well as advisory work, for clients ranging from blue chip companies to scale ups and spin-offs. He also counsels clients on various other aspects of intellectual property including strategies, licensing and due diligence. 

Jeroen graduated from the University of Groningen in 2012 with highest honors. He is an active member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Dutch Society for Pharmaceutical Law and the International Trademark Association (INTA). Currently, he is the Dutch delegate of AIPPI's Biotechnology committee. Jeroen is a guest lecturer in patent law both at the University of Groningen and Amsterdam VU University. He regularly publishes on intellectual property related topics. In 2019 he was the winner of the Dutch AIPPI award for his publication on patent priority rights, which is awarded each year for best publication in the field of intellectual property law for an author younger than 36 years. He is a co-author of the main Dutch academic handbook on intellectual property (“Kort Begrip”) and is a member of the editorial board of the EPLAW Patent Blog

He is lauded for having a ”intuitive affinity for the tech” by IAM Patent 1000 (2021). The Legal 500 (2022) writes: “What I appreciated about Jeroen is that he knows his stuff. He has excellent command of patent law and combines that with a strong commercial mind. He solves problems; you can always put ideas to him and discuss the issues with him to come up with a creative and sensible plan”. Both Managing IP (2021) and the Legal 500 (2022) rank Jeroen as a Rising Star. 
Currently Jeroen is a Visiting Partner in NautaDutilh’s New York office.

He is a co-author of the main Dutch academic handbook on intellectual property (“Kort Begrip”) and is a member of the editorial board of the EPLAW Patent Blog.
