EU Data Protection Regulators on New Challenges for Privacy at Work

Employer is watching you! Based on this motto and the implementation of new types of technologies by employers, the Article 29 Working Party (representing all data protection authorities in the EU) recently released an opinion 2/2017 on data processing at work. In addition to developments on the data protection principles applicable to the processing in the employment context, inter alia on the basis of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), this opinion offers interesting insight on concrete scenarios. From the use of social media in the recruitment process to the vehicles tracking system, this opinion offers useful recommendations which shall help employers to ensure data privacy compliance.
