Mauricette Schaufeli Associée

Mauricette Schaufeli - who is an economist as well as a lawyer - advises clients on EU and national competition law matters in all market sectors. Her mixed advisory and litigation practice focuses on cartels, dominance, merger control and state aid.

Before joining NautaDutilh in spring 2019, Mauricette served as competition economist at PwC Netherlands where she advised on wide-ranging competition matters. She started her career in 2007 at another leading law firm, where she gained deep and broad experience in European and Dutch competition law.

Mauricette's experience includes, amongst others:

  • advising and representing clients in worldwide cartel investigations and abuse of dominance cases, including extensive internal investigations (for instance the EC investigation into the trucks sector leading to a EUR 3bn penalty);
  • advising, managing and preparing complex multi-jurisdictional merger control filings with the European Commission and national competition authorities worldwide, including first and second phase proceedings;
  • negotiating with the European Commission and ACM on remedies to address competition law issues, including structural and behavioural remedies related to mergers and remedies to address alleged cartel or abuse issues;
  • conducted qualitative and quantitative competition economic advice in various merger control cases, amongst others in the health care sector, postal sector and energy sector; and
  • reviewed business cases in relation to potential state aid matters and calculated a market premium for a guarantees and advised on the MEIP-test.


Mauricette studied law and international relations at Leiden University and Sciences Po in Paris. She obtained a master’s degree in competition economics from King’s College in London. She regularly teaches with respect to competition law and competition economics.

She is a member of the Dutch Association for Competition Law and W@Competition. Mauricette speaks Dutch, English and French.
