Marleen Velthuis Candidate Partner

Marleen Velthuis is a partner in the firm and a member of NautaDutilh’s Fraud, White Collar Crime & Internal Investigations Team. As a criminal lawyer, she advises and assists companies in the context of investigations relating to alleged violations of the environmental legislation, the Working Conditions Act and other safety regulations. In addition, she advises financial institutions and accounting firms on compliance with the anti-money laundering legislation and restrictive sanctions rules. She also assists financial institutions in the context of criminal investigations and companies accused of fraud and white-collar crime.

Marleen is regularly consulted by companies, directors and officers for advice and assistance in complex criminal investigations, often accompanied by administrative enforcement actions. She regularly advises companies working with hazardous substances, such as chemical companies and those active in the energy sector.

Marleen graduated from the University of Groningen in 2008 (cum laude). She joined NautaDutilh in October 2018 and was named partner in April 2020. Marleen is recommended in The Legal 500. Clients appreciate her professional yet personal approach and her in-depth understanding of the position of clients facing criminal allegations. In close cooperation with her clients, Marleen ensures that erroneous assumptions of the public authorities are corrected.

Marleen is a board member of the Environmental Law Association, a member of the Netherlands Bar Association, the Netherlands Association of Defence Counsel and the Environmental Lawyers Association, and co-leader of the Dutch chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association.

She regularly publishes on selected topics of environmental crime in Milieu & Recht, speaks on administrative and criminal enforcement actions, and contributes to NautaDutilh's compliance & business integrity blog.
