Cyril Christiaans

With over thirty years of experience in contract law and technology, in two of the largest global law firms, Cyril is generally regarded as an expert in his field. He advised some of the world's largest industries, IT companies, e-tailers and financial institutions on the technological and contractual aspects of their Dutch and European operations.

Cyril is co-author to the Dutch commentary ('Tekst & Commentaar') on the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, and author of the commentary ('Tekst & Commentaar') on the Convention on the Law applicable to Agency. Cyril is also co-author of the Netherlands' chapter to the American Bar Association 'International Franchise Sales Laws Book' (2022). He regularly writes for legal journals such as Jurisprudentie Onderneming & Recht (JOR) and Maandblad voor Vermogensrecht (MvV).

Cyril is a member of the ITechLaw Association (and is a member of ITechLaw's Tech Mergers & Acquisitions expert committee that focusses on developments in M&A in the technology sector), the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Informatietechnologie & Recht (NVvIR), the Vereniging voor Distributie-, Franchise- en Agentuurrecht (DFA) and the International Distribution Institute.

Cyril frequently speaks at specialist post-graduate training events for lawyers (e.g. for Grotius, Law@Work, the Law Firm School as well as for several universities), on topics related to international contract law.
