NautaDutilh assists ENGIE and Electrabel in securing Belgium’s energy supply

NautaDutilh assisted longstanding clients ENGIE SA and Electrabel SA, alongside Slaughter and May, in reorganising their nuclear activities and in negotiating with the Belgian State to extend the operation of two nuclear power plants by ten years.

The aim is to restart the nuclear plants by November 2025 as a strategic measure to reduce Belgium's energy dependency and to secure electricity supply.

This agreement remains subject to approval by the European Commission – with consultation currently under way – and to the substantive vote on the legislative amendments.
