Maartje Govaert is head of our Employment team. She is a leading employment lawyer, certified pension lawyer (CPL) and experienced litigator with extensive international and domestic experience.

Maartje regularly advises on and litigates in complex and cross-border employment law issues, including in the context of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and reorganisations. She has extensive experience in negotiating with works councils and trade unions on social plans.

Maartje has particular expertise in handling highly sensitive and confidential matters that affect both employers and works’ councils. She often acts as a trusted advisor at boardroom level for large corporates and financial institutions on employment and pension law related issues, including on remuneration issues, executive appointments, terminations and non-competition restrictions. Furthermore, she advises on ESG related topics such as D&I, harassment & discrimination, whisteblower issues and work culture.

Maartje is based in our Amsterdam office. Previously, she has also worked in New York and London.
