On 21 May 2023, the Whitsleblower Law came into force, transposing the relevant European Directive. How are whistleblowers protected exactly?

"The legislator has given this law a broad scope of application. If the conditions are met, whistleblowers are protected against any reprisals and against liability. The protection also involves confidentiality and the processing of personal data. It would therefore not be surprising if this new protective framework led to an increase in the volume of reports" says Alexis Glavasevic.

In his article published in the Paperjam, Alexis offers readers an overview of the scope of the protection offered to whistleblowers and sets out the conditions under which protection is available.
