Arjan wordt beschouwd als marktleider op het gebied van covered bonds programma's. Hij heeft veertien van de achttien covered bonds programma's in Nederland opgezet (sinds de eerste transactie in 2005) en was al betrokken bij de eerste covered bond transactie in Nederland, het ABN AMRO Covered Bond programma en alle voorwaardelijke pass through transacties in Europa (waaronder het eerste IFR 2013 award winnende programma voor NIBC). Arjan heeft ook een sleutelrol vervuld in het wetgevingsproces voor de initiële en herziene Nederlandse covered bonds wetgeving en adviseert regelmatig de Nederlandse Vereniging van Covered Bonds Issuers. Hij is tevens lid van de Europese Ronde Tafel voor Covered Bonds Wetgeving van de VdP.

Arjan is marktleider op het gebied van securitisaties en heeft geadviseerd bij meer dan 100 publieke en private securitisaties, waaronder de met de Dutch Securitisation Award bekroonde Bastion RMBS securitisatie, de Magoi consumer loan securitisatie waarbij een significant risk transfer werd gerealiseerd, en andere transacties zoals de Essence en Dutch MBS transacties, de DRMP en SRMP transacties en de Dolphin, Green Apple, Lowlands en Hypenn transacties. Arjan heeft ook een belangrijke rol gespeeld bij de standaardisatie van de Nederlandse documentatie van securitisatietransacties en adviseert regelmatig de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Securitisatie. Hij publiceert regelmatig en geeft lezingen over onderwerpen op zijn vakgebied.

Arjan is in 1997 afgestudeerd aan de Universiteit Leiden. Aan deze universiteit was hij als docent verbonden van 1998 tot 2002 en gepromoveerd in 2003. Hij trad in 2002 bij NautaDutilh in dienst.
