Maren Klein

Maren Klein is a member of NautaDutilh's Competition and EU law group as well as our litigation team. Her areas of practice include state aid, tort, abuse of a dominant position, cartels, regulated markets, digital services and markets, with a special focus on competition litigation and civil damages.

Maren also has experience in and works on cases related to commercial litigation and international (investment) arbitration.

  • Work highlights
    • Representing Moldovan investors in Dutch enforcement proceedings in relation to a USD 535 million SCC arbitral award against the Republic of Kazakhstan under the Energy Charter Treaty.
    • Defending a European state in enforcement proceedings relating to investment arbitration awards in the Netherlands.
    • Assisting a major beverage manufacturer in proceedings relating to damages for wrongful enforcement.
    • Assisting several Dutch companies in public enforcement proceedings before the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets.
    • Representing a worldwide transport association in proceedings related to the Dutch aviation sector.
    • Various damages claims relating to competition law infringements, including matters involving cathode ray tubes (CRT) and canned vegetables
  • Qualifications

    Maren studied at Radboud University Nijmegen, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Dutch and European Law in 2018 and a master's degree in European Law (cum laude) in 2020. Maren also holds a master's degree in law (with honors) from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, USA.

    Maren speaks Dutch and English fluently and has knowledge of Spanish and German.

    In 2021, Maren joined NautaDutilh. Maren is admitted to the Amsterdam bar association.
